Anthony Kim, Ph.D.

I am a Professor of Marketing in the College of Business at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I earned my Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Georgia in 2013. My research focuses on online word-of-mouth and social network analysis, with current projects exploring the impact of information sources and the role of exclusive promotions on deal evaluations within internet deal forums.

My academic journey also includes an M.A. in Sport Administration from Central Michigan University and Ph.D. coursework in Sport Marketing at Florida State University. I hold dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Sport Science from Seoul National University in South Korea, where I was also a varsity athlete in swimming and snowboarding.

Prior to entering academia, I gained industry experience working for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance in Seoul.

In Summer 2024, I successfully taught a faculty-led study abroad program titled Entertainment and Sports Business of Korea with 23 students. This program offered students an immersive educational experience in the dynamic Korean entertainment and sports industries. More details about the course are provided below.

From May 29th to June 12th, 2025, the second class will be visiting Korea again with 15 new students.
